Simple things

Well, I am sitting here at the cabin listening to the rain and enjoying it thoroughly. It is so peaceful out here. You can't hear anything at all except for the rain and thunder. There are no sirens, no trains, no cars and no annoying planes flying overhead. I really wish that we could just move out here.

We have only missed two weekends since we bought the place in April of last year. I hate the hustle and bustle of the city. There are too many people where we live. It is really annoying. Here there are more animals than people and like the country song says, "there are more trucks than cars" .... I like it that way.

When you wake up in the morning, all you can hear is the birds singing and every once in a while a horse or a cow in the distance. It is a simpler way of life out here. It's a life that I long for. I am tired of playing keep up with the Jones's. What's the point?

An Example is tomorrow, first thing in the morning we are heading to the feed store to get sulfur that is supposed to keep the snakes at bay. Hopefully it will be nice enough to get the boat out. We could live out here on a fourth of the income that it takes for us to live in the city.

I guess instead of wishing for something that I may not really want, I should just be thankful for what I have. Sitting here listening to the rain pelt against the window with an occasional rumble of thunder makes me really ponder the blessings that we have. I know that it can all end tomorrow and I am truly thankful. Life is a gift and the simpler things are, the easier it is to understand that fact. I guess I'm heading off to bed. God is good! I really enjoy blogging my thoughts.

Headed to the lake

Excited about going to the lake this weekend. Hopefully it will be nice enough to get the boat. I have decided to blog regularly and keep a record of my life. Probably wont be of interest to anyone else but thought it would be fun to do an honest blog and look back on it years from now. We shall see!

Watching the news coverage on the Boston bombing - really sad situation, but it really pisses me off to watch the media be so politically correct about everything. Our government is doing the same exact thing. If we keep going down this road, I have a feeling we will be sorry.

People who hate us are going to hate us no matter what. The people who attack innocent people have no value of life. These people do not deserve rights in my opinion, but that doesn't really matter I guess. I am just sick of the news media, including Fox. They all suck. What ever happened to real, honest reporting?

Plus, these people are so childlike in their questions. They always refer to us as the American people too... I just think it is funny. The American people, lol, who the hell are they? The media people?Who are the politicians? The political people? I always thought it was supposed to be "We the people" but whatever! Getting out of here!

Great Weekend with Tim and April

We had an amazing time at the lake this weekend with my brother Tim and his wife April. They brought their Polaris RZR and we took it out to the trails on the other side of the dam at Lake Eufaula.

Last spring, Tiff and I bought the lake house my grandpa built back in the 60s. I grew up spending weekends at the lake and I am glad to be back doing the same thing at a place that means so much to me.

Lake Eufaula is one of the biggest man made lakes in the United States. It is situated in Eastern Oklahoma and is full of rich history.
This is somewhat of a hidden treasure and a great place to spend quality time with the family.

Our lake house is in a little inlet that the locals call refrigerator bay. It boast some of the best fishing on the lake, but not really a great place for water skiing because of all of the trees in the water.

We put our boat in the Eufaula Cove Marina and can't wait until summer arrives. We should be able to get the boat out in a week or two.

Anyway, back to the RZR and the amazing time we had this weekend. We are definitely going to get one of these vehicles. The performance is out of this world and they are really safe. We definitely pushed it hard and didn't even come close to its limits.

They are a little bit pricey but DEFINITELY worth the money. Tim and April definitely made a good investment. This ended up being one of the best weekends ever. It was SO MUCH FUN!

Below are some pictures and videos of the fun time we had this weekend.
