I have been feeling rather sentimental lately. Actually, I'm just very thankful to have life. It is such an amazing experience! I have learned to look at my life as a big adventure and enjoy the fact that I really don't know what tomorrow will bring.
There is no doubt in my mind that we are eternal creatures. There is a definite purpose to all of this even though I am not completely sure what that purpose is or how all of this works together.
I am not a religious person at all. As a matter of fact, I think religion is the reason human beings are in disarray with themselves and the natural world. I am a spiritual person. I definitely believe in God and his Word, just not from a religious or church point of view.
I believe we are here on this Earth to make a choice. The choice I believe is to live forever in a perfect state or to have never existed at all. Life passes by so quickly! It really is like a vapor. We really are here today and gone tomorrow. As quickly as the sun rises, it also sets.
It is almost as though time does not exist at all. We perceive a beginning and an ending, but in the moment they are simultaneous. We remember the past, but our memories are not accurate. We think about tomorrow, but no one knows what tomorrow will bring and in all reality, tomorrow is today when we are experiencing it.
I do not believe the road to heaven is paved with a religious point of view. I do not believe that an individual must have a certain knowledge in order to attain the righteousness of God and life eternal. God cannot be seen or comprehended because if God exists, he exists beyond matter, time, energy and space. I do believe that God does exist.
I also believe that the entire universe exists because of His Word. I believe that His Word was made flesh and dwelt among us as Jesus Christ of Nazareth. That being said, it is God that has given us the power to achieve eternal life through the sacrifice of Jesus.
I don't think it's our responsibility to judge other people based on our perception of right and wrong. All of us are wrong in one way or another and if the tiniest wrong separates us from who God is, there is no distinction between sins or our understanding of what sin itself really is.
The meaning of life is love. Choosing life means choosing love over condemnation and hate. Choosing life means spreading peace, love, joy, patience, understanding, faith, gentleness, kindness and self control over all judgment of human beings in the same boat.
I do not believe that God has created a place of torment for those who choose anything other than the love and life that can only be found through His Spirit in Christ. I know that pain and suffering exist. I also know on the last day of your life, the only moment you will have is the moment that you are in. The past and the future of space and time might as well not even exist.
A lot of people will disagree with me and that is fine. I believe the Bible was inspired, but at the same time it is not in and of itself divine. There is a lot of Scripture that was inspired by God. The word of God however according to my understanding is Jesus Christ. He is the word of God made flesh.
Does this mean I discount the Bible and what it says? Absolutely not! The Bible tells us about who Christ is and how his spirit has worked in the lives of regular people like you and I throughout history. It also shows us that it is not a head knowledge that provides us with salvation, but rather a heart knowledge and an understanding that is deeper than man's comprehension. The only way this is possible is by letting real love be the guiding force of life. Out of the mouth the heart speaks!
If nothing but judgment, condemnation and ridicule comes out of a person's mouth, they're basically becoming the judge, jury and executioner of the existence that they have an opportunity to be a part of. No one was given the choice of life which is why life itself does not exist apart from the eternal light of God! This is my two cents on May 1, 2013…The meaning of life is love and the absence of love in life is nothingness.
